ROBERTA RAGNI
Associate Professor
Roberta Ragni graduated in Chemistry in 2001 and received her PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Bari in 2004. In 2006, she was a visiting researcher at the Instituut voor Moleculaire Chemie (University of Amsterdam) and at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster Physikalisches Institut in Germany, in the research group of Prof. Luisa De Cola. Since 2008, she has been researcher at the Chemistry Department of the University of Bari and, since 2021, she is associate professor in Organic Chemistry at the same University. Her research interests deal with the synthesis and study of properties of photoactive materials, ranging from electroluminescent organometallic complexes for optoelectronics to biohybrid materials from photosynthetic microorganisms (algae, bacteria) suitable for photonics, solar energy conversion and environmental bioremediation. She is also involved in the research of green chemical strategies for a) the valorization of marine organisms as natural sources of biologically active organic compounds and b) the valorization of organic urban or industrial waste products for environmental remediation.
